Staging the Journey
Staging the Journey
In 2003-04 Alda Terracciano curated an archive exhibition as part of Future Histories cataloguing project Re-membering Black Performance. Presented at MoDA (Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture) in March and April 2004, it was based on the theatrical writings of the Caribbean playwright Edgar Nkosi White, and included documents from the theatre productions of his plays Trinity, The Nine Night, Redemption Song, Ritual, and Moon Dance Night, held in the Black Theatre Forum and NITRO archives (previously known as Black Theatre Co-operative). The exhibition incorporated original material including scripts, newspaper cuttings, photographs, theatre programmes, posters, leaflets, correspondence and administrative documents, and was complemented by visual items especially loaned by the private collector Alison Leacock. A play reading of Nkosi’s plays was staged at the exhibition launch.
