Covid-19 Response: moving image of Streets of… 7 Cities in 7 Minutes multisensory installation extended to 17th May 2020 in response to lockdown extension.

In response to Covid-19 enforced isolation, our Artistic Director Alda Terracciano, has kindly released online for a limited period of time the seven moving image artworks featured in her widely acclaimed multisensory installation Streets of… 7 cities in minutes. The non-linear video/sound artworks were recorded by the artist during her solo journeys through the five continents in an attempt to uncover the traces of three migration journeys, the Indo-European migrations, the Silk Road and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, as they resurface in people’s everyday life. Together, they offer audiences an opportunity to experience the streets of far away places, watching people’s body movements and listening to sounds from cultures different and yet in many ways similar to each other.

We hope this virtual journey through the seven cities will bring some solace in your day, until we will all be able to touch, smell, taste and feel the vibrant life of the streets of the world again.

TAKE ACTION:

The artist would be delighted to receive a short video documenting a simple action reflecting your cultural roots that you might carry out in your home or wherever you are isolating. It could be cooking a particular dish, praying, dancing and so on, can be shot on mobile phone, and should be no longer than 1 minute. The artist will use it to create a collective Covid-19 response artwork.
